Mergers and acquisition often have significant impact on the business operations and financial health of companies. Better information about mergers and acquisitions could not only help investors perform valuations, but also help promote better corporate governance by allowing investors to hold management to account for their investment decisions. The IASB is now proposing to require companies disclose information about mergers and acquisitions to meet investors’ needs. There will also be some proposed changes to the impairment test.
