    The Future of the Private Credit Markets

Dan Ransenberg will kick it off with a few questions around why the private debt asset class exists, the evolution of the asset class, and what is different today in private credit. Susan Kasser, CFA, is the Head of Neuberger Berman Private Debt. The Private Debt business manages $13 billion of investor capital dedicated to investing in first-lien and unitranche loans to market-leading companies owned by private equity firms. Prior to joining the firm in 2013, she was an investment professional in the Direct Lending business of the Carlyle Group. Prior to that, Susan worked at Goldman Sachs in several roles, including as an investment banker in the Leveraged Finance group, a fund investor and direct private equity co-investor in the Private Equity Group, and as a financial analyst in Global Investment Research. In addition to serving on the National Board of the Enterprise Club of the American Enterprise Institute, Susan serves on the Investment Committee and the Board of Directors for Vail Health, an independent, nonprofit health care system in Eagle County, Colorado. She has an MA in International Economics and Finance and a BA in Philosophy from Brandeis University, where she graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. She holds the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst. Michael Schwartz is a Managing Director of Neuberger Berman and a member of the Private Credit investment team. Prior to joining Neuberger Berman in 2016, Mr. Schwartz was a Senior Vice President at Fifth Street Asset Management, where he was responsible for structuring, executing and monitoring directly originated and syndicated middle-market debt investments throughout the capital structure and across multiple industries. Prior to that, Mr. Schwartz was with Ares Management as an Associate in the Private Debt Group evaluating debt investments across multiple industries. Mr. Schwartz began his career at Invesco Ltd., analyzing leverage loan and high yield investments in technology, media and telecom companies, as a member of the Bank Loan Group. Mr. Schwartz received a BS in Policy Analysis and Management from Cornell University. Daniel Ransenberg, Managing Director, joined the firm in 2023. Dan is a Client Advisor on the North American Institutional Client Coverage Team, and is responsible for covering Public and Corporate Pensions, Endowments, Foundations, Family Offices, and other large institutions in the U.S. West and Central regions. Prior to this role, Dan worked at GMO, where he spent 8 years as a Senior Business Development and Client Relationship Manager. Earlier in his career, Dan was a Senior Investment Strategist at BlackRock and a Pension Actuarial Consultant at Hewitt Associates. Dan earned his Masters' of Financial Engineering from the University of California, Berkely and his Bachelor's Degree in Mathematical Science from The Johns Hopkins University.
